What I’m Thankful For

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. And although I haven’t been a dedicated blogger for the past month, I’m back after some rest because I am so grateful and wanted to spread the love.

Many many thanks for….

SO MUCH – I was reminded today that I am probably in the top 5% of richest people in the world.  Living in America is something I take for granted and the fact that I have loose change and so much material wealth (a home, choices of what I eat, etc.) reminds me to really be grateful that God has given me more than I could ask for.  Thursday and yesterday’s meal was ridiculously delicious and I know that in my own town and especially around the world, there are people who would consider themselves millionaires to get to indulge in such a feast.
GOOD FAMILY – While all of us have some dysfunction in our family, I am so thankful for family that looks out for me and loves me. I have the cutest nieces and nephews here and on the other side of the world, the best grandma who calls me just to chat and is always happy to hear from and see me, parents who support me and started me out right, sisters who I can bug over email and on the phone, and a really good looking and caring husband who is a great leader.  Thinking back, although my grandpa passed away last year and I miss the showering of his love on me, I’m blessed because I still have so many others surrounding me that have overwhelmed me with goodness.
WEATHER – Today’s weather in Maryland is out of this world. Yesterday’s weather was just as heavenly. The sun is shining and there’s no chill in the air.  Couldn’t ask for more!
REST – If you haven’t heard, I’m expecting. Throughout the past few months, I have been limited to what I can do and cannot do in 24 hours. Typically, I’d prefer to pack my day, but since I became pregnant, rest has been a mandate almost everyday. I really have no choice because my body tells me when I need a snooze. I don’t remember the last time I had to take so many naps, but I’ve come to be grateful for the requirement to rest.   It has allowed me to sit on the couch more, enjoy the weather on our balcony more, close my eyes without having to worry about trying to do so much, etc.  Yeah for rest!
My list could probably go on much much longer as Thanksgiving always reminds me of how much I have and little I really actually need.  Those earrings I haven’t worn in weeks, that shirt that I rarely wear, the frozen pizza in the freezer, that book that has been ignored, the second bedroom that is pretty lonely–there is so much I have, so little more that I need.  SO MUCH that God has blessed me with. Happy Thanksgiving to you…hmmm.. what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
